Where are you from Simon ? Where do you live ?
I was born in the the South West of the UK and grew up in a little village in the South East. I've lived all over since then, but I'm currently living in Brisbane Australia. It's snow season here, so it's getting exciting!
How old are you ? Are you a snowboarder, surfer ?
32, nearly over the hill ! Yeah I'm an avid snowboarder and surfer. I used to take snowboarding a little seriously; now I'm beyond happy cruising around with my partner and family - snowboarding is the fucking best! Likewise surfing; it's such a beautifully immersive experience, I'm still super obsessed with it after many years.
Where come from your inspirations ?
Nature and people, the world around me. Just thinking and imaging weird shit as well - trying to trip my brain out ! I hope that some of my work has something weird or funny going on. In terms of other artists, I love looking at outsider art, and all the legends of skateboard graphics.
You work for many brands ?
I've been beyond lucky to work with some guys I really look up to in the snowboard industry. It's gnarly how fortunate I've been to work with those guys, they're all run by some of the raddest people I've crossed paths with, so it's a pleasure to get to be a very small part of it all.
What did you think about create a board for Stone Snowboards ?
So stoked! I love what you guys are doing; it's so sick seeing a French company out there making amazing boards with real passion behind it all. It's very refreshing in a world where so many things feel like part of a massive corporate machine.
Have you already been in France ? if not will you ?
I think France is honestly my favorite country in the world. I've been lucky enough to spend a season riding in the Alps as well as numerous winter trips over the years - I swear the French Alps are the best snowboarding terrain I have ever seen.
I've also spent a ton of time surfing in the South West and cycle touring further North. And that's before touching on the incredible culture and history of your country - My dream is to live there one day, in a tiny cabin in the Alps.
Do you have some big project soon ?
I'm pretty cruisey at the moment, just finishing up some work on next years. I'm looking at hopefully learning some more graphic design skills alongside the illustration this year and then pushing for some projects in that world. I'm also trying to write a kids book with very little success, so that's an ongoing process.
